Protecting Cultural Heritage/trials of two Syrian graduate Architects for their city: Aleppo

Friday, June 18, 2021

According to the Cambridge dictionary Care is the process of protecting someone (people) and something (stone). Dania and Rim, two Syrian graduate architects, will share their story of caring for the identity of their city, Aleppo, after the war, preserving the tangible and intangible heritage.
Aleppo, the city where they were born, and where live now, is the oldest inhabited city in history, the city with the largest armed conflict in the recent era.
Dania and Rim will present two projects they worked on as part of HADAD project, the community project founded and directed by Eyyas Abras, ”First Aid to Cultural Heritage in Times of Crisis”. Architect Sima Bazerbashi will join Dania and Rim to talk about their experience in participating in the international competition of Tactical urbanism focused on designing outdoor public spaces for people in the old city of Aleppo.

The conversation will be hosted by Muhammad Achour, Director of Places of ARcture, followed by a Panel discussion.

The live streaming will be through YouTube, attendees will be able to post questions through YouTube comments. Questions will be answered during the Q&A session.
